History
Sohns was founded in 1907 by J.A.A. Sohns as a music store selling instruments and sheet music. When the "Victrola" was introduced it was added to our product line. This later gave birth to the radio.
Charles E. Sohns, son of J.A.A., entered the business after his graduation from Walden High School at the young age of 15. Under Charles the business grew steadily adding televisions and appliances along the way. The first television set was shown by Sohns in 1939, although only a prototype.
Charles' son Jeffrey entered the business full time in 1962 upon his graduation from college. Two expansions have taken place since that time making Sohns one of the Hudson Valley's largest independent appliance outlets.
John Sohns, the fourth generation, entered the business in 1989 after his graduation from Marist College. The business continues to flourish and we all look to the future with great enthusiasm.
