Box information misleading

The box says it can cool rooms up to 250 SF, but the Lowes website, which I reviewed after the purchase and install has a chart "Choose the Perfect AC for your space" and shows the 6000 BTU unit good for only up to 150 SF. This information should have been on the box as this unit is having a hard time cooling a 250 SF bedroom.

Cooling and efficiency are fantastic remote is definitely A+for disabled people.. easy to install in small very old windows from pre1900 with added external storm windows and screens. The noise is a bit on the louder side but it's manageable.. it seems like there's no vibration in the window post installation while running.

When it works, it's a good little air conditioner, but definitely only for the room size specified, and the fan noise can be loud in such a small room. I'm running it in a room slightly smaller than 250ftsq, and it struggles on hot days when the sun is on the exterior wall (newer construction with fiberglas batt insulation). But these units are not very durable. I'm on my third one in three years. The first two failed (units cycled normally, but did not cool the room, and no condensate in the tray), both within their warranty periods. GE replaced them through a voucher good for another GE product, but the sales tax and time to remove and replace the defective units is the responsibility of the customer. If (when?) this third one fails, it will not be replaced with a GE unit.

I am pretty happy with this air conditioner. I bought it to replace an older GE model which I had for ten years; it actually worked well but I felt like I was pushing my luck so I gave it away and purchased this new one, which had 1,000 more BTU. I use it in my bedroom. It also had features my older, more basic model, did not- electronic temperature controls, a remote, etc. It works well, I feel like it is a bit louder than the older one and also rattles sometimes, which stops if I give it a little push on the side. It was easy to install and light. I can't really tell about efficiency because I have a much larger unit in the living area which probably uses a lot more electricity.

After 2 days compressor makes a whistling noise sometimes. Something is also definitely rattling inside when compressor comes on. ALSO, when compressor comes on, I can feel it on the wall! It's rough and noisy most times. Not just a soothing blowing sound like it should be. It was installed by a professional HVAC guy, so pretty sure it's not the installation. It does cool and comes with a handy remote. I love that feature, but the noise is why I'm only giving 3 stars. It wakes me up sometimes and I can hear the whistling in the next room.

Cools excellently. Only dislike is when it reaches set temp and turns off (in eco mode) as designed if you want to lower set temp a degree or two you have to move desired temp down at least 3 degrees. Ex......set at 70 and is off, lower to 69, 68, 67 etc before she fires up. Then you can move it up to 69 and she will achieve that.

I think it's great so far. Installation was a snap. Cools my 16 x 12 shed just fine. I run it on eco mode and it handles the Texas heat to date. No vibration. It's a little noisy, but that's to be expected with the fan blowing. The only thing I don't care for is that you can't direct the air up or down only side to side, other than that it's a great unit.

It has great cooling and is very efficient it. When it™€™s an Eco mode, it turns off and it doesn™€™t run all night like my other one used to and it would get freezing cold. There is a digital temperature and that helps control the AC from running all night. It™€™s not very noisy and to install was pretty easy because my husband did it and I didn™€™t even know it. Sometimes it vibrates a little, but that™€™s just in the beginning.

Side curtains don't fit onto the air conditioner.

The side curtains don't fit into the metal slots on the air conditioner frame. The end of the side curtain that you slide into the air conditioner is too big for the slots. Does not fit! I had to duct tape the sides to the air conditioner. I called and complained and they sent me the same exact ones. They don't fit!

Using this unit in a 12x16 completely insulated with blown in insulation ( even under the floor) in North Central Alabama. It has been in use 24/7 for the first half of June. June temps upper 80™€™s daytime & mid 60™€™s at night. This unit has been truly ™€œplug & play™€. I set the temp to 72 and the fan to auto. I do have a thermometer in the building with a station that displays the temp inside my home. It consistently maintains that temp. Controls are intuitive. Install was a breeze. I like the factory attached metal bar across the top that holds it in place against the metal frame of the raised window with no stress on the window. I find it to be at least as quiet as the previous unit that I had here. Overall, very pleased with unit™€™s performance & ease of use. Oh, almost forgot! I like its ™€œslide out™€ filter too! It hasn™€™t needed cleaning yet but, it removes and replaces easily pulling out of the Left side of the unit vertically and slides back in easily. I like the built in ™€œscreen™€ filter which I feel would clean easily with a handheld or shop vac.
