Our 2-year old imported dryer did not dry worth a darn. It generally took, regardless of mode or timer, dried clothes in 2~3 hours! We started looking for a dryer that would dry fast, made in USA and was durable and decided on Speed Queen.
It never takes over an hour - regardless of mode or capacity - now. Huge win!

We had a Maytag dryer for 30+years, We bought this machine because we were told of its durability and that it is the 'next Maytag'. We picked this one because of that, and the limited amount of electronics.
(1) We had to call the dealer within a week of purchasing it because it wouldn't turn on. (2) You can't depend that if you put something on Automatic dry that the clothes will in fact dry. I know the manual said something about towels not completely drying on Automatic, but come on now - that's ridiculous. Anything put on Automatic dry should dry completely - this indicates to me there is something wrong with your sensor or your sensor technology.
(3) Let's say you open the door during time-drying and your find the clothes are dry. When you try to shut the machine off with the door open. or take the clothes out, close the door, and hold down he Start/Pause button for three seconds, the dryer doesn't shout off - it starts running again! Then you have to hold down the Start/Pause button for three seconds AGAIN to shut the machine off. Illogical programming and frustrating.
(4) Why did you choose to have 30 and 60 minute time-dry intervals? Why not have a time-dry dial that does from 0 to 60 minutes like our old Maytag and you choose how long to make it go? Can't tell you how many time a load isn't dry after 30 minutes and you know you need maybe 5-10 minutes and you have no choice but to choose 30 minutes again. We've had to set a timer on the dryer, choose the time we want, and then come get the clothes out - AND go through the frustration with the Start/Pause button to turn the machine off (see #3 above).
(5) You practically have to be standing next to the machine to hear the beeper go off when the dryer stops. It is very faint - you should be able to hear the beeper go off when your are in, at the least, in an adjacent room.
This is all exacerbated by the fact the machine is expensive compared to most competitors. We were willing to pay extra for this machine to get the 'next Maytag'. Has been a disappointment.

I now enjoy doing laundry. My speed queen washer completes in 30 minutes, wonderful, and my clothes are cleaner than they have been in years. The dryer is also very efficient, drying complete in 30-60 minutes. The auto-detect dry feature dries the clothes/laundry completely.

I was so excited to get my new dryer and completely disappointed. If you'd like a dryer that you have to run 3-4 times to completely dry small loads I'd highly recommend. Otherwise buy anything else!

I had been using a front loader. Those things take FOREVER and don't get clothes as clean as this SPEEDY Speed Queen. I do a lot of washing. This washer gets it done in 1/3 the time.

We've owned this set for 6 months and are extremely happy with it. It doesn't have all the high-tech features-and that's exactly why we love it. After two front-load washers that failed and developed that awful mildew smell, we decided to go back to basic, proven technology. This set is solid, dependable and does exactly what it's supposed to do. Sometimes simple really is better. Spend the extra money and invest in quality-it pays off.

This appliance epitomizes the phrase "you get what you pay for". Everything about this dryer screams quality. Solid feel, and you can tell all the parts and components are top notch. We have also noticed a significant improvement on the drying times when compared to our old GE machine. The steam and wrinkle resistant feature work well, as well as the pet hair removal setting. Just love this unit, and when our current GE washer needs replaced, you can bet we will buy Speed Queen!

I can't say I am happy with my purchase of my Speed Queen washer and dryer in January.
My dryer does not work as well as my old whirlpool dryer. (I was replacing my excellent 30-year-old whirlpool washer and dryer.) The auto sensing feature is worthless. It does not sense when my sheets are bone dry and keeps overheating them. It does not sense that my towels or cotton socks are still slightly damp and stops drying them. I have tried all the different options and I am not happy.. I will have to get used to only using the 60 minutes or 30 minutes dry cycle,

Dryer delivered. Appliance company set it up and started it and it started up and he shut it off. I did a load in the washer and when I moved it to the dryer it would not run. It just hummed. Called where I bought the dryer and they set up an appointment for me with a repair company. A week later they came out and said it had a bad motor and it had to be replaced. Said it would be 2 - 3 weeks. I complained and Appliance place changed repair company and they came out and replaced the motor the next week. So I did not have a dryer for 2 weeks. Dryer works well with new motor. Just not happy I spent this kind of money and the Dryer wouldn't work brand new out of the box. Then I also had to wait 2 weeks from the time it was delivered until I could actually use it.

I heard about Speed Queen from a mentor who had a set and I knew I was done buying the "big box store" machines. When our LG dryer stopped working after a few years of service, I figured it was time to invest in a machine that will last for many years. When we turned it on, you could feel the difference. Way more air flow, heat, and sturdiness. This thing is built to last, like old school machines.
The downside. On the model we got, no fancy options. No computer screen. But that is fine, we never used those extra features on the LG anyways. Longevity beats fancy. The only "complaint" I had was installing the dryer electrical cord. It's the same as every other dryer, but the "compartment" where you do the hook up is tiny and if you have man hands, be super careful. I told myself not to drop a screw, and I indeed dropped a screw. Luckily I had saved the screws from my old dryer and was able to make it work. Other than those two things, I'm happy. We will get a SQ washer when our Maytag decides to stop, if not sooner.
If you are on the fence, do it. You will be happy with your decision.

Purchased the dryer October of 2025. Broke January 2026. purchased because of speed queen reputation, did not expect it to break after 3 months. Tech said this model has lots of problems. Needs heat element and new board. Took 3 weeks for parts to come in only to find out the wrong parts were sent, so waiting again for hopefully the right parts. Been without a dryer for over a month. Maybe speed queen needs to recall or replace this model of dryer.

I was sold on the repairman's suggestion to purchase SpeedQueen products when they were out to tell me my old washer and dryer were beyond fixing. Fast forward to when I received the machines. Dryer makes a horrible drum sound. It's under warranty so repair person said the "machine should have never been sold this way" and they replaced the bearings and pulleys. The machine still makes the same sound and I have had to go back to the retail store for assistance.

I just got rid of my LG set after the washer died for the third time. This Speed Queen dryer works really fast. It works like I remember a dryer is supposed to work, HARD. They are expensive. But if it is as well built as advertised, it will be worth it.

Having been forced to buy another dryer after my last speed queen died. (The timer knob went and could not be replaced as the knob was discontinued and no replacement available) I made the mistake of getting a new one (2026) and am horrified at the on/off button. Who invented that? Who decided it was ok to use that kind of (put your finger on it for 5 seconds) button? Give me a knob any day of the week. Speed Queen has lost its way for sure. Use to be that you paid more but it lasted and lasted. Not anymore. Pure malarkey!

Washer and dryer both were recommended from an older relative. The washer doesn't seem to spin the clothes out well. I am still trying to fine tune my settings. I will give it a little more time before I decide if it's worth the money. The cost was really high compared to other washers. Hopefully the name with hold up for the long run.

Dryer does not dry on sensor setting. Leaves clothes damp on the dry setting. Also no way to tell how much time is left on the timed setting. I had a GE & you put on sensor dry, & it would dry according to dryness setting. This prevented over drying which I liked

The auto sensing doesn't do a very good job at all, and the clothes are almost always damp.
Also, after only a couple of weeks I needed to get a new dryer sent to me because the steam solenoid got stuck open and the dryer was spraying water into the barrel regardless of whether or not the dryer was actually in use.

Only had this machine 3 months and the simplicity is what I want. No fancy beeps and glass doors. You can remove the entire lint compartment and clean correctly when needed. I hope they will check back in 4 years and want another review. This was bought as a matching pair.

I am not that happy with the dryer. I don't like the timed drying being a choice of 30 or 60 minutes, I prefer 60 minutes with count down. The auto dry is totally useless.

Needed a new washer and decided to buy the matching dryer. Company reputation and online research are the primary reasons for choosing Speed Queen. The dryer is solidly built; however, it takes several cycles before clothing, etc. is sufficiently dry. And similar to the matching washing machine, the controls are misleading. Appearance implies they are timer-controlled, but they never moved. Contacted Speed Queen by email and was initially informed that the controls should move during the cycle. Before spending money on a repair call, I telephoned Speed Queen. The customer service agent then verified with a technician that the controls on this specific model are not on a timer.

My 9 yr old Whirlpool washer "died" so we replaced both washer and dryer with Speed Queen even though the old dryer was still working and am I so glad we did! I have always preferred a gas dryer but where we now live does not have access to natural gas and we've been stuck with electric models that, in my opinion, don't dry as well as gas. This new electric Speed Queen dryer surpasses any previous electric dryer I've had in recent years. It dries loads super fast- it's actually shocking. I have enjoyed the Steam Refresh cycle (there is a water line hooked up) and the Pet Hair Removal cycle. My drying sessions are so greatly reduced - probably half the time of previous models so using much less electricity. I can't say enough good things about this dryer! I really like having the lint screen in the front of the tub and my only wish would be for an easily removable screen to really clean it well. You have to dig the lint out without removing the screen - I use my dryer sheet to catch and "wipe" out the lint -but there are bolts that we have already removed once to be able to get it really cleaned out- we've had it about a month. Love, love this machine- I don't usually have such strong, positive feelings for a household appliance- thank you!
